Jan Asselijn painted this around 1650 as a straightforward nature study — a swan defending its nest against a dog, wings spread in full alarm. But someone later added inscriptions turning the swan into a political allegory for Johan de Witt defending Holland against its enemies. The labels were removed in the 19th century, but the painting kept its power: a creature of remarkable grace caught in an act of absolute fury.

The painting

Each case is printed to order, so please allow 2–4 business days for production. Shipping typically takes 3–7 business days within the EU and UK, and 5–10 business days to the US.

Returns

Since every case is printed specifically for your order, we can only accept returns for manufacturing defects or shipping damage. Contact us within 14 days of delivery with photos and we'll arrange a replacement or refund.

  1. iPhone: open Settings → General → About. The model name is on the second line.
  2. Galaxy: open Settings → About phone. The model name is at the top.
  3. Come back, pick the generation, then the exact model. We'll remember it for the next painting.
